It’s never too early to pray. May these prayers for Christmas provide inspiration as you prepare for the upcoming Christmas season.
My husband and I pray all throughout the year for many reasons. For example, one of the prayers we continue to declare is for the health of our loved ones. Especially starting in 2020, we have been praying for our health not only for protection (aka: prayers during a pandemic) but also hoping that when Christmas time comes, we can celebrate without fear.
You don’t have to hold back your prayers for Christmas just for the holidays. You can pray anytime during the year and plant seeds of prayer to prepare for the holiday season. Much like how an owner who may heavily rely on the holiday season for business would prepare months before the holiday season, why would prayer be any different?

WHY IS PRAYER SO POWERFUL?
To answer this question thoroughly will take much longer than a single post. I am no theologian or an ordained pastor, but without glossing things over too much, I do want to be clear and share why I believe in the power of prayer and how praying will change your life.
WHAT IS PRAYER AND HOW DO WE DO IT?
Simply put, prayer is a conversation with God. Similarly to how you would have a conversation with your friend who listens when you’re venting, celebrating, or confused, Jesus is our friend who listens when we speak to Him.
There are many studies on the types of prayers in the Bible. Melissa Tumino takes us on a deeper dive as to the 9 Types Of Prayer In The Bible explaining the biblical methods behind prayers.
WHY DO WE PRAY AND WHEN DO WE DO IT?
We pray because God told us to pray. Prayers for Christmas is still prayer.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1st Thessalonians 5:16-18
We also pray because it gives us hope — hope for comfort, provision, love, peace, and grace. When we are praying to the Father, we are also choosing to trust in His will for our circumstances.
Be it in silence or out loud, prayer can be spoken anytime by yourself or with an entire congregation. You don’t have to be a pastor or a very smart person to pray. You don’t have to be going through a hard time or have the perfect life. All you need is to simply have faith and the willingness to seek God.
I am excited to share with you my prayers for Christmas. Remember, prayer is also a beautiful moment where we can come into agreement being reminded of His love and grace in our lives.
May these prayers for Christmas inspire you and your family as you prepare and enjoy the Christmas season.

LORD’S PRAYER
Matthew 6:9-13 New King James Version (NKJV)
In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
PRAYERS FOR CHRISTMAS BIBLE VERSES
Matthew 1:21-23 New Living Translation (NLT)
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus,[a] for he will save his people from their sins.”
All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,
which means ‘God is with us.’”
Matthew 2:11 Amplified Bible (AMP)
And after entering the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, after opening their treasure chests, they presented to Him gifts [fit for a king, gifts] of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
John 1:29 New International Version (NIV)
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Galatians 4:4-5 English Standard Version (ESV)
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
Philippians 2:8-10 English Standard Version (ESV)
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
2 Corinthians 9:15 New Living Translation (NLT)
Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!
James 1:17 New International Version (NIV)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
John 1:5-11 New International Version (NIV)
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
Isaiah 7:14 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Listen carefully, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will call his name Immanuel (God with us).
Luke 2:6-7 Amplified Bible (AMP)
While they were there [in Bethlehem], the time came for her to give birth, and she gave birth to her Son, her firstborn; and she wrapped Him in [swaddling] cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no [private] room for them in the inn.
Isaiah 9:6-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
1 Timothy 1:15-17 New International Version (NIV)
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
John 3:16-18 The Message (MSG)
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.
